Aida And Costa To Introduce Robotic Staff

In what would appear to be a move from Tomorrow’s World, both Aida Cruises and Costa Cruises have announced that they will be introducing Robotic staff on their ships.

In a multi million dollar deal, both lines will incorporate ‘Pepper’ robots on their ships from Spring 2016.

‘Pepper’ robots are designed to read, understand and react to human emotion.

These Robots have been developed in Japan and will be used primarily to assist and guide passengers on board and will also provide recommendations to restaurants on board the ships. The main languages that they will converse with, will be, German, Italian and English.

Royal Caribbean have already incorporated robotic bar tenders on their Quantum class ships but this takes it to a new level of robotics on board cruise ships.

It will certainly be interesting to see the results on board Aida and Costa.
