RCI Announce Details For ‘Ultimate Abyss’

You’d be forgiven for thinking this was an April Fools Day prank but….

This is for real as Royal Caribbean International have released details about this new ground breaking feature which will grace their latest and largest cruise ship, Harmony of the Seas, when she enters service in May 2016.

The slide will be situated aft on the ship and will start on deck 16. There will be two slides and this will allow passengers to enjoy the thrill of sliding down the equivalent of 10 storeys.

Passengers will enter the slide and into a customised mat which will take them down the slide at a rate of around 9mph. To make the adventure more dramatic, there will be a series of audio effects in the slide which will enhance the experience and the senses. The passenger will then travel the 216 feet long stainless steel slides until they reach the bottom.

The ‘Ultimate Abyss’ will be the tallest slide at sea and will certainly not be for the faint hearted and adds an extra dimension to the their fleet.

Harmony of the Seas will be the largest cruise ship in the world when she enters service in May 2016. The 227,000grt ship is currently under construction in France and scheduled to depart on her first cruise on 22nd May 2016 for 4 nights to Rotterdam from Southampton, where we at Cruisemarsh will be cruising on.

  1. Wow,,, am sure other senses will awaken as in who made me do this, not impressing another person again.. Must be a special mat , hate to see it go ahead of me and my bathing attire stays on. Hope a bar is at the end.
