In what can be described as a major restructuring of the sales teams at both Cunard and P&O Cruises, it has been announced that there will be a 25% increase in the size of the sales team. Currently there are 31 members of the sales team but that will rise to 42 where invitations for applications will be internal and external.
This new move at Carnival UK will also see certain departments merging, including head office account management and business development resource, dedicated field sales support for national and retail partners, and sales operations, which they all be dedicated to agency sales.
Alex White, Carnival UK vice President of Sales suggested that the move would allow for more responsibility and accountability and will allow an individualist approach to each agent:
“ It would produce a market leading sales team to drive profitable growth”, which he insisted would have “greater autonomy, accountability, and the ability to treat each agent on an individual basis”.
“Our agent partners have unique business models and as such, need a customised approach to sell our brands, on their distinct merits, to the right customers,”
“The proposed, flatter structure offers autonomy to allow the team to deliver results but with clearly defined accountability.”
It is hoped that this will further enhance relationships between the company and the travel agents and make for much smoother and enterprising partnerships.
