Thomson Celebration suffered power failure as a result of engine failure as she departed Valletta, Malta on Saturday.
The 1984 built ship who was formerly known as Holland America’s Noordam, encountered difficulties as she approached the breakwater to Valletta. The ship was then forced to anchor to avoid hitting the breakwater as the ship remained powerless for around an hour, In order to remain in a stable position, two tugs were required in order to stop the ship drifting towards the breakwater to the harbour.
The power outage was then rectified after an hour and the ship sailed to it’s next destination of Messina and arrived on schedule on Sunday.
