A Croatian shipyard has won the race to build a new expedition cruise ship, which will be due for delivery in 2019.
The shipyard group, Brodosplit, based in Split, have announced that the new ship will adhere to the new Lloyd’s Polar Class 6 rating and will be the first cruise ship built to those high ice rating specifications.
The ship will carry 196 passengers and will have a cruising speed of 15 knots, length of 107.6m and 17.6m wide. The ship will be built for an as of yet unnamed company.
This contract order shows that the shipyard is ambitious to enter the cruise ship market and in 2017, Brodosplit will deliver Flying Clipper to Star Clippers.
