MSC Cruises have announced that they will be returning to the UK with full season cruising in 2018 with MSC Magnifica to be based out of Southampton.
The 95,128grt MSC Magnifica, which can accommodate 3223 passengers, will home-port in Southampton for 8 months between April and November 2018 and will undertake 5 itineraries including a 14 night cruise to Spain, Portugal, France, Holland and Germany and round the UK which will call at ports such as Newcastle, South Queensferry and Invergordon.
Antonio Paradiso, UK Managing Director of MSC Cruises was delighted to announce the news on board MSC Fantasia in Barcelona yesterday during their All Star of the Seas Event. He said:
“We are coming back to the UK with our ship Magnifica for a whole season, it is a big comeback for us and we are very excited. It marks a new dedication from MSC to the UK market and how we want to be one of the most popular cruise lines in the country.
We have created itineraries that make the most of the British Isles and the best of what are customers can experience out of their own country.
I am really excited, this is game on for us. I want us to become one of the top three cruise lines in the UK.”
MSC Magnifica will then undertake the company’s first ever world cruise in January 2019, where she will embark on a mammoth 119 night itinerary in which she will visit 32 countries and 49 ports of call including San Francisco, Panama and Melbourne.
Paradiso added that a world cruise was something MSC had been exploring for sometime and was now thrilled that it will come to fruition. He said:
“This will open up a whole new market for us and it is something we have waited a long time to do. We wanted to reduce days at sea so during the 119 days there will be no more than five consecutive days at sea.”
The 2018 Southampton sailings for MSC Magnifica will go on sail on 21st November.
