AIDA Helping Celebrate 828th Hamburg Habour Anniversary

Hamburg Harbour will be celebrating their 828th anniversary this weekend with their traditional annual celebrations including a helping hand from AIDA Cruises.

AIDAvita, AIDAprima, AIDAluna and AIDAsol will all be visiting Hamburg over the weekend period, with AIDAvita arriving tomorrow, 5th May.

AIDAprima will visit the city on Saturday and will spend the day in the port before the big AIDA Fireworks display at 22.30 local time. AIDAprima will then depart shortly after at 22.45.

Sunday 6th May will see AIDAluna and AIDAsol visit and spend the day. Guests on board will be able to see the Grand Departure Parade of ships and boats in celebration of the port’s 828th anniversary. The  Sphinx class AIDA ships are then scheduled to depart at 19.00 that evening.

A whole host of activities is planned for the weekend with plenty to keep everyone occupied.  People can enjoy visits to historic ships, museums, be enthralled by talks and demonstrations by the Harbour Police, Army and Rescue teams on the Elbe. There will be arts and crafts stalls, guided tours and also lots of places to grab something to eat and drink. A day designed for the whole family and the main event of the Grand Departure Parade of ships and boats is an event not to be missed!

The AIDA ships will not be the only cruise ships in Port this weekend, there will also be other ships, including Astor and MSC Preziosa on Sunday so a really busy weekend for Hamburg indeed.

A truly spectacular weekend is in store and the annual celebrations are regarded as one of the biggest events of the year in Hamburg’s  calendar.
