“Eden, like so many aspects of Celebrity Edge, represents a unique advance in cruise ship design. It’s an experience that’s multi-faceted and innovative. Connectivity to the ocean is one of the most exciting hallmarks of Edge Class, and with more glass than any other room at sea, Eden embodies that outward-facing concept beautifully.”
Designed by three inovators in their industry to create this unique and inspiring mult-deck venue, Celebrity Cruises enlisted the help of Scott Butler of Wilson Butler Architects, Patricia Urquiola whom is an internationally acclaimed designer and has never designed a venue at sea before and Variety Worldwide, who will oversee the blending of the unconventional theatre with the dining and nightlife experiences that will incorporate the venue.
Speaking of the announcement, Celebrity Cruises President and CEO, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo shared her excitement and enthusiasm towards Eden and Celebrity Edge and said:
“Eden, like so many aspects of Celebrity Edge, represents a unique advance in cruise ship design. Our search for partners who are as passionate about world-class design as Celebrity led us to the incredibly talented Scott Butler and designer extraordinaire Patricia Urquiola, who offered a fresh perspective and keen eye. The entire space is magical throughout morning, afternoon, and evening when our guests will experience Eve at Eden, an experience produced by the visionary Variety Worldwide and our very own Cornelius Gallagher. They have all created something magical and magnificent.”
Celebrity Cruises describe Eden as a ‘transformational venue’ and it’s just that. Throughout the day, the venue will change to suit the atmopshere and time of day. For instance in the morning, Eden will be a place where you can escape and chill and enjoy the views.
The afternoon becomes more lively and will see hands-on enrichment programs, which will guests to hone their culinary, cocktail-making and wine skills and knowledge. Guests will also be able to enjoy performances such as Sitar players and aerial artists.
As evening descends on Eden, the venue again changes mood and guests will be inspired by the Tree of Life on Deck 5. Here, the Library of Plants will tower 18 feet above the Eden Bar and will allow for a bountiful supply of fresh ingredients and garnishes for the hand-crafted cocktails that the Eden Bar will have to offer.
David Ley, Director, Variety Worldwide suggests that Eden will will break the rules of cruising in the traditional sense. He commented:
“When people think of traditional cruise ship entertainment, there’s a very specific image that people have in mind, but the exciting thing about Eden is we’ve actually been invited to break so many of those rules,”
