Celebrity Fleet Set For A ‘Revolution’

Celebrity Cruises have announced a $500m refurbishment programme for their entire fleet which is set to begin with the refit of Celebrity Millennium in February 2019.

Known as ‘The Celebrity Revolution’, 500 leading architects, designers, and engineers have been tasked with the project to bring the rest of Celebrity Cruise’s award-winning fleet to the Edge.

Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, President and CEO, Celebrity Cruises stated:

“We launched THE CELEBRITY REVOLUTION to do one thing – transform the way our guests experience the world. It began with the introduction of the industry-changing Celebrity Edge, and continued with the stunning Celebrity Flora. Our dedication to improving the way guests experience the world knows no bounds. We are taking our entire award-winning fleet to the edge and giving people the vacation they truly deserve.”

Celebrity Millennium, Celebrity Constellation, Celebrity Infinity and Celebrity Summit will benefit from the transformation of the suites onboard, with the help of designer, Kelly Hoppen, MBE. She will also assist with the newly added Reflection Suite and Signature Suites to Celebrity Solstice, Celebrity Eclipse, Celebrity Equinox and Celebrity Silhouette whereby a fushion of East meets West, with clean lines, neutral tones and a warm, inviting opulence.

Kelly Hoppen was delighted to be involved with the project. She said:

“This was a new and exciting challenge to recreate something stylish and luxurious yet totally different from the accommodations that I have designed for Celebrity Edge. I wanted to invoke a feeling of timeless luxury that welcomed guests into their own haven. Your bedroom is where you sleep and where you wake, two of the most important times of day, especially when you are on vacation. It was important to create space, harmony and luxury within a home away from home setting and I think we achieved this balance perfectly.”

With Celebrity Edge, the cruise line introduced an exclusive new sanctuary for all Suie Class guests, called The Retreat. This will now be offered fleet-wide in the ‘Revolution’ with every ship offering The Retreat Sundeck and The Retreat Lounge both of which will be designed by Hoppen.

Once the ‘Revolution’ has taken place, all ships in the fleet will offer upgraded accomodation. Celebrity will work in conjunction with international hospitality design firm Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA) in order to transform the staterooms on board Celebrity Millennium, Celebrity Constellation, Celebrity Infinity and Celebrity Summit, plus staterooms and many of the suites on board Celebrity Solstice, Celebrity Eclipse, Celebrity Equinox, Celebrity Silhouette and Celebrity Reflection into a statement about modern luxury.

Brian Abel, Senior Vice President, Hotel Operations, Celebrity Cruises added:

“Every detail of our staterooms has been elevated, every comfort refined. By the end of THE CELEBRITY REVOLUTION the entire fleet will have the same quality, design essence, and consistency of modern luxury, bringing our fleet to the edge.”

Guests will be able to enjoy new fresh and chic stateroom designs which will rival the world’s best boutique hotels. They will incorporate Celebrity’s eXhale bedding featuring exclusive luxurious cashmere mattresses, RFID locks, pervasive Xcelerate and Bluetooth capabilities.

Along with the refurbishment of the suites and accomodation on board, Celebrity Cruises will also  be offering a enhanced culinary experience for all their ships.

Qsine, a firm guest favourite, will be added across the fleet and renovated which will offer the cruise line’s virtual Le Petit Chef experience, created by the world-famous artists of Skullmapping and presented by TableMation exclusively for Celebrity.  Oceanview Cafe will also be redesigned and will offer an open, airy marketplace-inspired design which will offer guests islands of international delicacies, whilst the Main Restaurants will also undergo a redesign with next textures and new finishes throughout.

Additional new features to be added fleetwise during The Celebrity Revolution will be expansion of the new SEA Thermal Suite, which was first introduced on Celebrity Edge. There will also be new exclusive shopping experiences on board featuring sought after brands and designers such as Shinola, John Hardy and Hublot. Also, there will be state of the art digital photo galleries that make browsing vacations memories a snap.  There will also be elevated bars and lounges, including the newly reimagined Passport Bar and expansion of Celebrity Cruises popular Gastrobar concept, which will have more than 40 craft beers on offer along with creative cocktails and gourmet comfort food.  There will also be upgrades to The Hideaway, Team Earth, The Library and much more.

Celebrity Millennium will be the first ship to complete The Celebrity Revolution refurbishment and is scheduled to be completed February 2019 whilst the last ship to recieve the makeover will be Celebrity Reflection, scheduled to be completed in January 2023.
